One of the benefits of computer based instruction is the ability to manipulate time by slowing or speeding up a process that otherwise would not be observable. This type of instruction is used to supplement material in our IGX Operator and Maintainer course.
The IGX is a voice switch used to route telephone calls. The routing process, known as digit translation, occurs in fractions of a second and is not viewable to the learner. Historically, this subject has been difficult to teach by traditional verbal instruction. This animation was designed to slow the digit translation process for active learning and understanding. The use of this custom, one of a kind simulation has greatly improved student learning acquisition in IIUSA’s Basic and Advanced IGX courses.
A sample of this digit translation simulator is linked below. It was designed to run on disk; slow internet connections may experience choppy narration and sound effects. For a full demonstration of the digit translator simulator, please feel free to contact us.
