Server Administration

ServersThe Server Administration Course includes verbal instruction, but emphasizes hands-on exercises on the installation and maintenance of Microsoft Servers, Exchange, and SMS. 

IMPLEMENTING WINDOWS NETWORKING SERVICES
Introduction to Server 2003 and Active Directory
Administration: adding computers to the domain, remote desktop for administration, managing accounts and groups.
Providing services: file storage/sharing/backup, printer, DHCP, and DNS.
Install, configure and maintain device drivers and software updates.
Maintenance: monitoring, diagnostic tools, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery.

IMPLEMENTING MICROSOFT EXCHANGE 2003 SERVER
Introduction to Exchange messaging, models, features, and standards.
Exchange Architecture: Active directory, information storage, and message flow.
Installing Exchange, managing recipients, and configuring clients.
Configuring groups, routing groups, SMTP, and the information store.
Maintenance: system manager, monitoring, policies, troubleshooting tools, security, backup and recovery.

SYSTEM MANAGEMENT SERVERS
Introduction to SMS features, hierarchy, key components, and site architecture.
SMS configuration options, resource discovery, inventory collection, client installation, software and package management.
Maintenance: metering, reporting, troubleshooting tools, backup, and recovery.

Comprehensive Practical Exercise: Install server, Exchange, and SMS in a simulated network.
